The school day

At Bethersden Primary School our day begins at 8.30am for children when the school gates open ready to welcome children in to school. Children may arrive at any time up to 8.45am. During this time children get themselves organised for the day ahead, take part in early morning learning, are supported with interventions to help children who have found concepts tricky and to feel settled and ready for a busy day of learning.

At 8.45am we take the register and go to the hall for assembly. Assemblies each day are led by members of staff and visitors.

Lessons begin at 9.00am for all children.

Early Years Foundation Stage

Children in the Early Years Foundation Stage (Bumblebees) have continuous provision throughout the morning so do not have a ‘morning break’. Learning ends at 12.00pm for lunch. Afternoon learning begins again at 1.00pm and ends at 3.10pm.

Key Stage 1

Children in the Key Stage 1 (Owl and Deer Class) have a ‘morning break’ from 10.00am until 10.15am. Learning ends at 12.00pm for lunch. Afternoon learning begins again at 1.00pm and ends at 3.10pm.

Key Stage 2

Children in the Key Stage 2 (Otter, Badger and Fox Class) have a ‘morning break’ from 11.15am until 11.30am. Learning ends at 12.30pm for lunch. Afternoon learning begins again at 1.30pm and ends at 3.10pm.

In total, Bethersden Primary School has a typical learning week of 32.5 hours.
