Welcome to the new Rabbit Class page. We are the Reception Class at Bethersden Primary School and cannot wait to share with you all of our wonderful learning. Please keeping reading to find out more
Our wider learning theme in term one was Nursery Rhymes. During this topic we looked for clues to find out who pushed Humpty Dumpty then we put him back together again using papier-mache. We washed Miss Polly’s dolly’s clothes and called for the doctor to come quick quick quick. We dingled and dangled like scarecrows, helped Incy Wincy Spider climb up the spout again and much more.
Most recently we have been cooking up potions and spells in our potion lab role play area.
Reading Writing Excellence
In Reading Writing Excellence our very own phonics scheme we have been learning our first set of sets. We enjoy learning our sounds through a variety of practical and hands on activities. We especially love becoming mini teachers and teaching our friends our new sounds.
Now that our repertoire of sounds is growing each day we are beginning to learn to blend these sound together and read words. We enjoy learning in pairs and groups to support each other on our learning journey.
We have also been exploring mark making, letter formation and writing our names using a variety of media and not just at the table with pencil and paper.
In maths this term we have been learning to count carefully, recognise numerals and talk about 2D shapes using mathematical language. We even used everyday language related to money to sell pumpkins in our outside pumpkin shop role play area.
