Oak

Welcome to Oak class

Welcome! Bienvenue! Willkommen!

We are very excited about teaching Oak class and enjoy helping our pupils to progress. Mrs Moss teaches the class Monday to Wednesday and Mrs Green Thursday and Friday.

During the topic of Ancient Egypt, the class produced some amazing work with Mrs Grace. Can you  spot yours?

Some amazing weaving was then completed when working on the ‘Tudors’. Here are a few examples.

During this term we have been enjoying exploring our topic of ‘Past and Present’. We have been visiting different periods in history and learning about these times. We started in Ancient Egypt where the children wrote their names in hieroglyphics, made amulets from salt dough and studied Egyptian Gods. The next era was the Tudors where some marvellous Tudor roses were made and the pupils spent time studying Tudor houses and even describing them in French! Next stop is the Victorians. What will we do next???

During our PE lessons on a Wednesday this term, the pupils are improving their Tennis skills. Please remember to have PE kits in school every Wednesday. And watch out for a very special event coming up in the next few weeks…

OAK CLASS VISIT DOVER CASTLE

Oak Class visited Dover Castle on Thursday 3rd November. Our day consisted of a trip to the wartime tunnels, where we listened to the history of Operation Dynamo. Everyone listened carefully and asked very sensible questions. Lunchtime was spent eating outside (in November), with a view of the Castle in the background. After lunch, we then explored the Castle and even managed to reach the top, as you can see from the group photo. Everyone had a fabulous day and our writing on the Friday was amazing and detailed, reflecting the experience we had undertaken.

Our topic this term is “Folklore and Fairy Tales.”
We have started to research Robin Hood. Why not check out this link and find out more.

In History, we are finding out about the Mayan culture including finding out about their food and customs. Did you know they had pyramids?

We are developing our reading area and will be giving Oak Class the opportunity to enjoy floating ‘up, up and away’ with their favourite books.
Roman Numerals: In Maths we have been learning how to read Roman Numerals.
Home Learning – spellings and reading will continue to be the main part of our Home Learning. Spellings are given out on a Friday.
PE – PE takes place on a Friday afternoon this term, so can PE kits please be in school on a Friday. We are happy for PE kits to be left in lockers so that PE kit is always in school. This term we are studying gymnastics and we are looking forward to seeing the sequences the children produce.
