Welcome children and families to our home page. Our New Year has begun with a bang! We are all excited to see what the following term will bring us.
Remember, our class page will be updated regularly with the children’s learning as well as useful information and updates so please ensure you return to this page often to celebrate our learning journey with us.
Our learning
This term we are continuing to engage with new curriculum opportunities that are ambitious and rich provided by the Cornerstones Curriculum programme. This term our theme is ‘Long Ago’ where we will be learning about how we have grown and changed since we were babies and how life in the past was different from today. The children have been developing their knowledge and skills through our history theme to develop their understanding of the past through our Dinosaur Park outside, we have been exploring seasonal changes to develop our understanding of time and reading old stories to develop our love for books. We have even had a pop up museum of old toys to explore the differences between our toys and toys from the past. In music we have been developing our confidence to identify the pulse within songs and use our knowledge of high and low pitch to perform a variety of rhymes and songs. Our focus in PE this term is fitness and we have been exploring speed to develop our agility and in RE we have been sharing special places including places that are special to us.

Read Write Inc
In Read Write we are using our deep knowledge of our set 1 sounds to decode CVC words and begin writing short sentences with finger spaces. We are working hard to refine our hand writing and write our names independently.

Power Maths
During Power Maths this term we have been deepen our knowledge of numbers to 10 and developing our counting skills. We have recently been introduced to 10 frames and have been using them to represent different numbers up to 10. We have even been using pictorial representations to show different numbers and quantities.

How can you help your reception child?
There are many ways that you can help your reception child at home to support them on their learning journey in.
-Please ensure they are onetime everyday, wear the correct uniform and have a healthy and balanced breakfast each morning.
-Provide your child with a water bottle to ensure they are hydrated.
-Promote a love for reading by reading at least 3 times a week and engage with your weekly Spelling Shed assignments.
-Please ensure your child is dressed for all weathers. In Bumblebee Class we will play and learn outside whatever the weather. Rain or shine we love to play and learn.
-Access Tapestry regularly to celebrate what your child has been learning at school and post your own learning achievements at home.
