Welcome to Ash Class! We are coming to the end of an exciting transition period, where all children have spent the previous 3 weeks in their brand new classes. Having settled into their new surroundings, we are now feeling enthusiastic about the new academic year in September. I hope you all have a well rested summer and look forward to seeing you all again soon.
Homework and spellings
All children will be given a new homework book ready for the weekly compulsory and optional tasks. The compulsory homework will be a set of spellings to practice from their Read Write Inc. teacher. Alongside, there will also be an optional task, typically something creative and artistic. Furthermore, reading records will continue to be checked and changed every Monday, Wednesday and Friday. Here at Bethersden we are very passionate about reading and appreciate all of the support at home, whether that is hearing your child read or engaging in discussion asking them questions about the story itself.
Our new topic is called ‘What a Wonderful World’, built upon the foundations of Science and Geography. We will be focusing on nature and different habitats all over the world – such as deserts, rainforests and under the sea. We will be specifically learning about our local environment and the wider world around us. I am very excited about this topic due to the rich learning opportunities it provides across the wider curriculum and cannot wait to get started.
